White Violet Press is a small publishing company that aims to showcase the literary work of accomplished formalist poets. Most books are by invitation only. However, that said, we are willing to look at unsolicited manuscripts year round (charging a reading fee), especially if the poet has been previously published
in our sister magazine, Victorian Violet Press.

We expect authors to be widely published in magazines and journals, requiring ninety percent of their collection to be comprised of previously published work.

(Free verse is considered and will be accepted if it has a lyrical nature.)

Guidelines for submitting poetry manuscripts to White Violet Press:

Poets may submit 24-35 poems (to be published in a 6 x 9 glossy cover chapbook).
All manuscripts should be in Times New Roman, 11-point font. (Do not use all caps.)
Chapbook length should be approximately 45 pages or less.
Include in this order: Title page, Dedication, Acknowledgments, Poems, Bio.

Poets should include their name and address. Please make sure to include an email address with your information.

Manuscripts will be responded to within 1 week.

The manuscript must be previously unpublished in book form. Individual poems should be previously published and make up ninety percent of the manuscript.
All submissions must be accessible to a general audience; we do not publish writing that is intentionally obscure. We do not publish poetry that contains religious rants, pornographic, or violent stories. Please avoid using offensive language.

We require a reading fee on all unsolicited manuscripts of $10.00
Please include a cover letter with your submission.
If your manuscript is accepted you will receive 5 free copies and offered 30 to 50% quantity discounts on future orders of your book. Books retail at $12.00.
Books have an ISBN numbers and/or are listed at Amazon, Violet Press and Victorian Violet Press.
To view our editorial tastes in poetry, read our magazine, Victorian Violet Press. We are drawn to work that relies on strong, fresh imagery and metaphor. We love lyrical poems and formal poetry. Our tastes are very eclectic, however, we may reject manuscripts with poems that require a special set up.
